The PVD process can provide multiple deposited layers on various substrate materials in one step. Deposition steps include metal layers, metal nitrides and in some cases metal carbon nitrides or oxides. Outside the functional benefits associated with multi layer coatings we have the opportunity to create unique colors that can set your product apart from the competition. The oxide layer or interference color is applied over the PVD Diamond Black coating creating a rainbow effect on the surface of the parts. Part geometry and position in the PVD chamber will either increase or reduce the intensity of the rainbow color so no two parts are identical.
